Women’s Health and the Pelvic Floor

What is pelvic floor therapy?

Do you have chronic hip or SI joint pain? Do you leak urine when you really don’t want to? Have you had an abdominal surgery, traumatic birthing process, sports injury or another pelvic or abdominal issue? Incontinence, bladder leakage, sexual dysfunction and pelvic pain are common but NOT normal. Ever.

Physical Therapy can help! I offer pelvic floor PT and wellness services to treat female pelvic floor dysfunction. I help you address the more intimate conditions causing you pain, limiting activities, and negatively impacting your quality of life.

I also provide proactive and preventative treatments to strengthen the pelvic floor and core muscles before and/or after pregnancy to prevent diastasis recti, pelvic organ prolapse and as preparation for childbirth. You’ve made a choice to prioritize your health.

And I’ve made a choice to ensure your success.

Pelvic Health Physical Therapy is a relatively new type of physical therapy that many people may not be familiar with. As a result, many problems go untreated. My goal as your physical therapist is to improve your function and quality of life. I bring my expertise to my treatment of pelvic floor and orthopedic conditions for prenatal/postpartum clients, all levels of athletes, and people experiencing uncomfortable physical changes, in any stage of life.

You Are Your Best Health Advocate

Treatment should be clear. My goal is to help you resolve your concerns and manage your own health. I provide 1:1 customized physical therapy and wellness sessions in our private studio or virtually.

Your pelvic floor is composed of muscles forming the foundation of your pelvis. It is part of your deep core musculature that coordinates with other core muscles to hold you while you sit, stand, lift, carry, walk, run, dance… And, these muscles are important for sexual function, bladder and bowel function

When your pelvic floor muscles are healthy, they should be able to contract and relax upon command, keep you from leakage, and keep your pelvis, hips and lumbar spine happy.

A pelvic floor evaluation entails a detailed medical history and discussion of your pelvic floor function. I invite you to talk about whatever you are comfortable with sharing in order to gain a good understanding of your issues and goals. Common goals I have encountered include leak free jumping jacks, pain free penetration, improved orgasm, improved postpartum core strength, and joint relief in pregnancy (SI, hip, low back, pubic symphysis).

Elevated Physical Therapy uses a combination of education, manual therapy, dry needling, cupping, and rehabilitative exercise to help you reach your goals. Every individual is unique, and your treatment should be too! From professional athletes to those working desk jobs, and everything in between - I have helped women from all walks of life get their freedom back!
